Who We Are
The Greyhound Council is a parent organization that encompasses the entire Carmel Clay Schools district. We formed out of the desire to work on filling two needs we have seen emerge in the Carmel Clay Schools community over the years:
Inconsistencies in PTO engagement and activities
This was often driven by high turnover rates of PTO leadership, and difficulties recruiting new members who feared high levels of time commitments needed and not enough direction and/or support to accomplish their goals. This often led to teachers and students not being afforded the same levels of support across our district.
Lack of awareness of what our PTOs, our students and our schools accomplish during their academic year
PTOs do a lot of work to enhance every student’s academic experience. There is an opportunity for parents to better champion our students and our schools’ activities by streamlining communications, and emphasizing voices across the district to grow school pride at the district level.
Our Mission, Beliefs, and Goals
Mission Statement:
Greyhound Council’s mission is to give a districtwide voice to the community, both within the walls of CCS and the greater city of Carmel, by increasing collaboration of parents/caregivers across the district and acting as advocates in the community for the high-quality education that CCS provides.
Our Beliefs:
We are ALL Greyhounds.
Parents/caregivers of all talents and various engagement level capabilities are an asset to our schools.
Education is a collaboration between students, families, staff, the school board and the community.
Education is a nonpartisan issue.
Our Goals:
To create and share opportunities for sustainable, accessible efficiencies across our PTO network.
To engage the greater community by enhancing communication, and providing opportunities for engagement.
To work in partnership with CCS administration, PTOs, families and community members to advocate for all CCS students.
